Recently, we lost Leonard Cohen, celebrated singer, songwriter, poet and novelist, most recently and very notably known for writing the song Halelujah, among many others.
One of his poems also gave us this quote, quite appropos for our current time – “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”
Right now, take a conscious breath and reflect on how many “cracks” there are in your life. How many places that seem broken, flawed or imperfect. Situations, people, things that seem to need “fixing.”
Seems as if the more we focus on these cracks as problems, the more we feel weary, discouraged, and even hopeless.
What if, instead, we imagine and believe that each one of these fractures is actually an opening?
Worry about the state of the world around us?
Could be an opening to a new and more loving way of responding to challenging circumstances.
Fear and self doubt in your job or your family?
Could be an invitation to lean into the light of your Essence self that is filtering its way through the cracks of your imperfections.
Anger or resentment because of discord in your relationship?
Could be an opportunity to look for the light streaming through the cracks of another’s flawed human-ness.
Today you get to choose how you will perceive the cracks in your life.
Problems to struggle with? Or openings and invitations to express the best parts of yourself?
Today remind yourself that the Light of Essence is always there for you.
It only needs a crack to get through.
Breathe into the cracks; invite Light in:
I am brilliant;
I am magnificent;
I am a being of Love and Light.
I am here to bring my Essence Self to the world.
The world needs me.
