Still Overwhelmed?
How are you doing today? Really, how are you?
How have you been this past week?
Are you taking care of yourself?
Do you remember how to do that?
Because nothing is going to slow down out there.
The only thing that has even a chance of slowing down is your own internal process.
And if you don’t slow this down, your system will stay on auto pilot.
When we are on auto pilot, we react to things, rather than respond.
And without mindful responses, we are at the mercy of all the external forces we have no control over.
DON’T BLINK YOUR EYES!
BLINK. How did I get home from work? I don’t even remember driving.
BLINK. What day is this? The days seem to just blend into one another.
BLINK. How many episodes did I binge watch tonight? How much wine? How much ice cream? How much porn? Social media? Online shopping?
BLINK. When was the last time I really listened to my kid’s concerns? They are always complaining, but something is bothering them.
BLINK. How long has it been since my partner and I were truly intimate? Not just a quickie where maybe only one of us gets “satisfied,” and the other one just feels relieved of the pressure.
BLINK. Has a year gone by already? Was that week long vacation the only pleasure I experienced this whole year?
Just like you, I know it is hard to balance taking care of all the things while also taking care of yourself.
Yet, if we don’t take the time to slow down and take care of ourselves first, the things that most of us are longing for are absolutely unattainable.
Things like:
Connection
Clarity
Creativity
Courage
Presence
Playfulness
Kindness
Joy
Peace
Love
Slow down. So you don’t lose the moments.
